It began in Sweden in 1986. A sun simulator developed for Saab and Volvo test facilities led to an unexpected observation. Staff working near the simulator began spending their breaks under the light. Energy levels increased, and over time the department reported the lowest sick leave in the organisation. What began as a workplace habit revealed a larger insight. Simulated sunlight could have an impact on human physiology and how people felt.
The powerful insights from Trollhättan became a question worth decades of scientific work. What happens when sunlight is purposefully engineered for controlled, repeatable human exposure? Over the next 25 years, that idea was developed across care, rehabilitation and wellness environments. Engineers, medical researchers and spectrum specialists refined the technology through long-term studies where outcomes were measured in energy, sleep quality and daily stability. Today, more than 500 installations apply this work in real-world environments.
